Today is the last day to vote early in the city election.

Voting is at the Community Center, 408 N. Alister St., until 7 p.m.

Election Day is Saturday, May 14, when voting hours at the Community Center will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On the ballot are one contested race for Place 1 between incumbent Keith Donley and Monte Sirmon, and a $6.4 million bond issue for improvements to 11^th Street.

Unopposed are Charles Bujan in Place 3 and Edwin Myers in Place 5. Incumbent in Place 5, Rick Pratt, is completing his third and final term in accordance with the city charter term limits.

Election results will be available Saturday evening from about 7:30 p.m. until approximately 9 p.m. at the South Jetty office, 141 W. Cotter Ave., or by calling the newspaper office at (361) 749-5131. Results also will be posted on the South Jetty Web site, www.portasouthjetty.com.
