Beach walk set Friday
It’s not just sargassum weed that washes ashore on area beaches, but an assortment of seashells, too.
To find out more, head to the beach for a free guided beach walk on Friday, April 22.
Guide Shirley Fischer will be on hand at 9 a.m. under the purple flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier to help beachcombers identify shells and other items that wash ashore.
Sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation
Department, the walk gives visitors and residents the opportunity to learn about the “treasures” found along Mustang Island beaches. The walks are held on the fourth Friday of each month.
Beach walkers should wear sunscreen, appropriate shoes, hats and clothing and bring a container for any treasures found.
