Varsity takes revenge

The Marlins made up for an earlier loss to Kenedy on Friday, April 8, handing the Lions a 7- 3 defeat on the Kenedy diamond.

“It was a good week for us,” coach Brian Flack commented. “The kids were ready to avenge the earlier loss, and they came out intense and ready to play.”

They were certainly ready to hit.

Andrew Groseclose accounted for a double and an RBI, going three for three at bat and brother Alex was two for three with a walk, two RBIs and a triple. Tyler Pate was one for two with two RBIs and two sacrifices, Dillon Martin batted in one run, going one for three, and Tanner Merrill was two for three, scoring twice and batting in one run.

Andrew Groseclose got the win, making him 6-0 on the season. He went 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, none of which was earned. He walked three and struck out seven, yielding five hits. Pate took over in the sixth, striking out one, allowing no hits and no runs.
