‘Fish’ boost Marlins to win
A group of freshmen Marlins stepped up to the plate and got seven hits in nine at-bats to help the Port Aransas team to a 20-5, five-inning victory over Runge at Port Aransas on Tuesday, April 5.
The Marlins built to an 11-run fourth inning, which sealed Runge’s fate.
Thomas Winton got the win on the mound, bringing his record to 5-0 for the season. He pitched all five innings, allowing five hits and walking one, but striking out four. Two of the runs were earned.
Andrew Groseclose was three for three at the plate, with two doubles and three RBIs. Nick Maxham got two hits in four at-bats, including two RBIs. Tyler Pate was also two for four and scored two runs. Tanner Merrill went three for four and batted in two, Dillon Martin was two for three, Jake Roberts was four for four with two doubles and five RBIs and Christian Johnson got a hit in his solo trip to the plate.
