‘Kitchen Witches’ to dish up final performances Thursday - Saturday
The Port Aransas Community Theatre’s “Kitchen Witches” are just about finished cooking up trouble during the production’s final performances this weekend.
The comedy about two cooking show hostesses will finish its run with performances on Thursday through Saturday, March 24-26, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Friday and Saturday performances and $10 for Thursday. No other discounts or coupons will be accepted for the $10 performance.
The cast includes Gay Greer as Dolly Biddle, Judith Greer as Isobel (Izzy) Lomax, Tom Kreyling as Rob the camera guy and Les Hoffman as Stephen Biddle. Larry Stotts is the director.
The plot revolves around two “mature” cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Larry Biddle dated one and married the other. When the two become paired on a TV show called The Kitchen Witches, the insults and the food begin to fly. The TV producer’s son tries to keep the show on track, but ends up fighting a losing battle. To top it all, the show becomes a rating smash as The Kitchen Witches tops both Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer.
Andrea Ford is the stage manager and Gen Kreyling is the assistant stage manager. The set construction crew consists of Tom Johnson, Meg Johnson, Paul Faeth, Dave Chandler, Gen Kreyling and Tom Kreyling. Set painters are Arlene Hughes, Meg Johnson and Annette Casto.
Tickets may be purchased by calling the theatre box office at 749-6036 between 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday, by visiting the theatre’s Web site, www.portaransascommunitytheater.com and following the link for obtaining tickets, or at the box office one hour before performances. The theatre is located at 2327 State Hwy. 361.
