Live auction and smoked pig are on the block this Saturday
A hog roast and live auction will be part of the action this weekend at the Moore-McDonald Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8967.
The fundraising event, featuring a smoked pork dinner, music, prize drawings and a live auction, is set for Saturday, Feb. 19.
Festivities will kick off at noon when auctioneers Roy Montgomery and Gene Moon begin the live auction.
Dinner will follow at 4 p.m. A donation of $8 per plate is requested. Extra parking and curbside to-go food pickup will be available.
The prize drawing will be at 6 p.m. Eight Visa gift cards, in amounts of $1,000, $400, $200, $100 and $50 will be awarded. Tickets are available at the post for $2 each or six for $10. Winners need not be present.
Music, to begin after the drawing, will round out the evening.
Organizers are still seeking donations of items to be used in the auction.
Event proceeds will go toward a scholarship fund for Port Aransas High School graduating seniors and the post’s building fund.
