Falls City stops Lady Marlin JVs

Neck and neck for two quarters, the junior varsity Lady Marlins nevertheless couldn’t hold off a determined Falls City attack at home, losing on Tuesday, Jan. 18, to the JV Beaverettes 39-25.

The Falls City girls got off to an early start, taking a 10-2 lead into the second quarter. Port Aransas kept up on the scoring in that period, 10-10, and scoring was even in the third quarter, 11-11. However, the Beaverettes pulled away again in the final period, 7-2, to post the win.

Scoring was split, with Devan Murray and Kellie Owens putting in six points each, Brenna Martin hitting five, and Missy Gilbreath contributing four. Jessica Borden and Vivian Frank each put in two points.

The loss puts the JV Lady Marlins at 2-1 in district, and 10-4 for the season.
