Doors open for Tour of Homes Saturday
Eight area homes, ranging from beach cottages to spectacular beachfront homes, will be open for viewing on Saturday, Jan. 22
The 23rd annual Tour of Homes on Mustang Island is sponsored by the Port Aransas Garden Club.
Tickets are on sale now for the tour, originating from the Port Aransas Community Center at 408 N. Alister St. Bus tours will be available from 9 to 11 a.m. at $20 per ticket. Self-guided tours are offered between 1 and 5 p.m., for $15. Tour maps will be provided. Self–guided tickets for children 12 and under will be offered at $5 each.
One of the homes on the tour is that of Randy and Christine Burns, a “Carolina” beach house with columns and expansive decks. The 5,000-square foot home has an exterior that looks like a classic beach home, but an interior with a more traditional feel. Completed in 2005, the Burns wanted their house to be “the quintessential beach house,” but with the open, warm and inviting areas of a traditional home. The main living area on the second floor features an octagonal living room, a 20-foot vaulted ceiling, Corinthian columns, and an open floor plan connecting two dinning areas with an expansive gourmet kitchen, bar and serving area. The home has five bedrooms and four and a half baths, custom cabinetry, built-ins and granite throughout, not to mention a nice view of the Gulf.
All tickets may be purchased at Mustang Island Art Gallery, 2222 State Hwy. 361, Gratitude, 316 N. Station St., or at the Community Center on the day of the tour.
Tour tickets, refreshments and items for purchase and auction will be available at the Community Center during tour hours. Original art, framed wall art, jewelry, home decor, a week in Las Vegas and more will be offered as part of a silent auction, a prize drawing, or for purchase. Prize drawing tickets will be $1 each or six for $5.
