Kinney

Harrison “ Buzz” Kinney, of Corpus Christi and formerly of Port Aransas, died Wednesday, Jan. 5. He was 89.

Kinney was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Feb. 17, 1921, to Seward Harvey and Margaret Harrison Kinney. He was a descendant of Presidents William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison.

He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. As a volunteer recruit in the U.S. Navy in 1941 he was a member of the greatest generation having served in the Pacific in three engagements and was honorably discharged with the rank of lieutenant senior grade.

Before retiring in Port Aransas in 1982, Kinney had lived in Dallas since 1954. He moved to Corpus Christi in 2009.

He was an avid fisherman and animal lover.

Kinney is survived by his wife, Caroline Kinney of Corpus Christi; son, Harrison (Kathy) Kinney Jr. of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter, Julie (Butch) Findley of Port Aransas; three grandchildren, Mari Moses, Elizabeth (Jamey) Lade and Kate Findley; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Community Presbyterian Church in Port Aransas. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Animal Friends of Port Aransas, AFPA, P.O. Box 301, Port Aransas, TX 78373.
