The Port Aransas Garden Club meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 11, will feature guest speaker Chad Leister. Leister, the Coastal Training Program Coordinator for the University of Texas Marine Science Institute Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve, will discuss “Your Yard and the Coastal Environment.”

Doors will open at the Port Aransas Community Center, 408 N. Alister St., at 9:30 a.m. for refreshments, conversation and sign-up for upcoming projects. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

Immediately following the regular meeting, pharmacologist Dr. Dusty James will give a short presentation entitled “Osteoporosis: Treatments, Therapies and What You Need to Know.”

January hostesses are LuAnn Ferguson and Cherie Hoffman. The ambassadors are Jackie Gaskill and Celeste Campbell.
