BMS students bring home UIL ribbons

Brundrett Middle School students took four first-place awards in UIL competition just ended, as well as 13 ribbons for second place and seven for third place.

First places went to Ashley Mack in seventh-grade math, Eric Anderson sixth-grade music memory, Aly Lipman, sixth-grade social studies and Ben Milligan, sixth-grade spelling.

Second places went to Charlotte Ramsden, sixth-grade art; Kyle Jones, sixthgrade maps, graphs and charts; Brayden Dover, eighth-grade maps, graphs and charts and science; Trout Lorette, sixthgrade math and number sense; Sydney Hogan, eighth-grade math; Traver Truax, sixth-grade music memory; Emma Shannon, eighth-grade oral reading; Vivian Nhan, sixth-grade ready writing; George Clower, sixth-grade social studies; Mel McCann, seventh-grade social studies; Mary McCann, eighth-grade social studies.

Winning third-place awards were Gen Powers, eighth-grade art; Aubrey Sergeant, sixth-grade dictionary and ready writing; Casey Fusso, eighth-grade dictionary, listening and maps, graphs and charts; and Josie Yeargain, seventh-grade maps, graphs and charts.

Taking fourth places were Sydney Hogan, calculator; Hunter Frost, sixth-grade listening; Hawkins Williams, sixth-grade maps, graphs and charts; Ty Harrison, seventh-grade maps, graphs and charts; Ben Milligan, sixth-grade number sense; and Charlotte Ramsden, fourth-grade spelling.

Fifth-place awards went to Chase Denton, seventh-grade calculator; Lauren Hernandez, sixth-grade dictionary; Ty Harrison, seventh-grade art; and Shivam Desai, seventh-grade oral reading.

Bringing home sixth-place awards were Jon Tristan, sixth-grade art; Connally Waight, seventh-grade calculator; Varsha Patel, eighth-grade calculator; Lauren Allen, seventh-grade ready writing; Lauren Allen, seventh-grade maps, graphs and charts and ready writing; Madison Ray, eighth-grade number sense; Josie Yeargain, seventh-grade science and social studies; and Daniel Campbell, eighth-grade social studies.

Competitions were Dec. 3 at London ISD, Dec. 6 in Port Aransas and Dec. 9 at Deiscoll ISD.

Results from the impromptu speaking event had not been received at South Jetty deadline, Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Awards will be presented to winners tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 17, in a ceremony at 12:30 p.m. in the Brundrett Middle School cafeteria.

UIL competitions also include such subjects as debate, drama and headline and editorial writing. Competitions and practices are held throughout the school year.

Brundrett UIL coaches are Terry Davidson, Paul Balcom, Kate Williams, Lindley Eldridge, Philina Martinez, Andrea Skloss, Betty Smith, Danna Alcorn and Joe Kocurek. Williams is the UIL coordinator at Brundrett.
