Hop aboard your flying carpet and make your way to the Port Aransas Community Theater for Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.” this weekend.
But you better hurry to buy your tickets, less than 20 tickets were still available for opening night when the South Jetty went to press.
Director Ken Yarbrough said he feels it is likely the performance will be the first opening night sell out ever for a PACT production. He said tickets for Friday and Saturday were also going fast online and he was hoping to sell out all three performances.
More than 20 Port Aransas youths, in grades first to sixth, will perform in the production at the theater, 2327 State Hwy. 361.
Performances will run for three shows only at 7 p.m. beginning tonight, Thursday, Dec. 9, and on Friday and Saturday, Dec 10-11. Tickets are $5 and are available for purchase at the theatre beginning at 5 p.m. on the day of the show.
Doors open for performances at 6:30 p.m. and seating is reserved.
The play is produced in partnership with the Port Aransas Independent School District with special arrangements with Musical Theatre International.
The production will take audiences to Agrabah, the City of Enchantment, where every beggar has a story and every camel has a tale. Aladdin, Jasmine, and, of course, the Genie will entertain with magic, mayhem and flying carpet rides. Audiences can tap their feet to Academy Award-winning songs including “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me.”
Students are involved in every aspect of the production, from set design and costumes to playbill production.
