Reception to feature ‘Man Alive’
‘Man Alive!’ group show at the First Friday Art Reception will include these works of art by artists Larry Charles, clockwise from upper left, Lee Ricks, Guy Morrow and Ed Boyd. The reception will be held tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 3, at the Art Center for the Islands, 323 N. Alister St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to meet the artists, socialize and enjoy the exhibit, live music and refreshments. Art in the exhibit will be on display and available for purchase through Friday, Sept. 24. Urban Engineering and Woody’s Sports Center are sponsoring the art center during September.

The public is invited to meet the artists, socialize and enjoy the exhibit, live music and refreshments from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the art center, 323 N. Alister St.
The September exhibit will feature “Man Alive!” a group show.
Artists in the show are Ed Boyd, Larry Charles, Guy Morrow and Lee Ricks.
Boyd has been drawing all his life. His father and grandfather were both artists. Boyd lives in Rockport where his coastal scenes painted on mailboxes and tiki-carved palms can be seen around town. He is also known for his pictures and surfboards done in vinyl tape.
Charles began taking drawing and watercolor classes 15 years ago and shared his skills by teaching art to students in the school where he served as principal. He continues to explore new techniques and experiment with color.
Morrow is a teacher, family man, philanthropist, entrepreneur and self-taught artist. He studied the old masters at an early age. Morrow displays and sells his art in the Coastal Bend area and teaches workshops in Corpus Christi, Utopia and Port Aransas.
Ricks is a South Texas artist who uses watercolor to capture the beauty of nature and the older things and people that are disappearing daily from our modern world. Ricks has more than 45 years’ experience in mastering his technique.
Art in the exhibit will be on display and available for purchase through Friday, Sept. 24.
