Cross-country team to sell baked goods
Prepare your sweet tooth – or at least, your baked-goods tooth.
Port Aransas High School crosscountry runners will hold bake sales on Sunday, Aug. 29, and again on Sunday, Sept. 5, to help pay for trips to San Antonio and Round Rock for practice runs.
Both bake sales will be at the Family Center IGA, 418 S. Alister St. They’ll start at 9 a.m. and close at 1 p.m., but serious shoppers may want to get there fairly early.
Athletic Director Steve Reaves, who is also the cross-country coach, said both trips are overnight trips.
“We will go to San Antonio and run on our regional course, and also go to Round Rock and run on the state course,” Reaves said.
The team has a lot to live up to. Last year, for the first time, cross-country runners went to state level competition. Reaves said he expects a good performance from runners again this year.
