Keeler

Cora Pauline Tennison Keeler, of Corpus Christi and Port Aransas, died on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010.

The Keeler Observation Tower at Roberts Point Park is named in her, and her late husband Tom’s, honor. Keeler was born on Jan. 3, 1921, in Texarkana.

She studied art at the University of Arkansas and Southern Methodist University.

Keeler was a member of the Corpus Christi Junior League, the Corpus Christi Country Club and the Corpus Christi Yacht Club.

She enjoyed deep-sea fishing, golf, horseback riding and racing sports cars.

The Keeler’s funded the construction of the Gulf Coast Humane Society facility in Corpus Christi.

Keeler was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Temple Keeler; her mother, Maurine Merle Tennison; and her brother, James Morgan Tennison.

She is survived by her son, Tennison Temple Keeler.

A funeral service and reception were held Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Corpus Christi.

A private entombment will be held for the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Cora Keeler can be made to the Gulf Coast Humane Society or a charity of one’s choice.
