Up for some tennis?

Round robin tourney open to visitors, residents

Visiting tennis players are invited to join residents Saturday morning, Aug. 7, at the monthly round robin tennis tournament

The informal “just for fun” tournament will kick off with sign up at 7:45 a.m. Play begins at 8 a.m.

Play is primarily mixed doubles, depending on who shows up.

Entry fee is a can of new tennis balls – players don’t even need a partner.

Players should meet at the courts on Station Street between Beach Street and Avenue C and be prepared to play until about noon, or until the heat wilts your racket. Although there is a water fountain nearby, players usually prefer to bring their own water.

Partners are matched randomly, and the format depends upon the number of players participating.

All skill levels are welcome, although players should have the ability to keep the ball in play.

The tournament is sponsored by the Port Aransas Tennis Association and is part of a series of tournaments held on the first Saturday of each month.
