Benefit scheduled for Hope Radican
HOPE RADICAN
A benefit dinner is being hosted for Port Aransas resident Hope Radican.
Radican has battled Hodgkin’s lymphoma twice in the last seven years. For a third time, she is again battling the disease and is in experimental treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
She has been a community member for 17 years working various jobs and raising two children: Macy, age 19, who is attending the University of Texas at San Antonio, and 17-year old Austin, who is a senior at Port Aransas High School.
The dinner is being held to help with the cost of treatment and will be on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 8967, 311 N. Alister St., at 6 p.m. The VFW will provide barbecue plates for a donation of $8. Potato salad, coleslaw, beans and bread will be included in the meal. Children younger than 12 can eat for free.
Tickets for prize drawings will be sold for $1 each, or six for $5. Music and an auction, if an auctioneer can be found, are also scheduled for the benefit.
Donations of funds, gifts for the drawings, food, talents or time can be arranged by contacting Kay Azbill at (580) 362-0420 or Barbara Madrid at 749-6534.
