South Jetty on newsstands this afternoon

Newspaper will go to post office as usual

Wednesday, June 30 -- The South Jetty will be on newsstands this afternoon, thanks to Hurricane Alex.

Anticipating deteriorating weather, operators of the press in Victoria, where the newspaper is printed, made the decision to move printing schedules up.

That meant the South Jetty pages were completed Tuesday night and electronically sent to the printer. The presses rolled this morning, and the print editions are expected back by 3 p.m. today. Distributions to newsstands will begin this afternoon and will be completed tomorrow morning.

Newspapers will be delivered this afternoon to the Port Aransas post office for mailing to subscribers both in town and out of town.

The online edition of the newspaper will be posted this afternoon as well.

The newspaper is usually sent to the press early Wednesday afternoon and distributed to the post office and newsstands on Thursday morning, when the online edition also is posted.
