While most everyone in town has the day off, most Port Aransas retail businesses and restaurants will be on the job to welcome Memorial Day visitors.

The holiday weekend starts tomorrow, Friday, May 28, and continues through Monday, May 31.

Some offices, however, will be closed, but they’re not likely to ruin anyone’s holiday.

City hall will close its doors, but all first responders will be on duty as usual. Collection of recyclables will go on as scheduled on Monday as well.

The water district also will close on Monday for the holiday. Emergencies may be reported to the police department dispatchers, 749-6241.

American Bank’s lobby will be closed on Monday, but drive-through banking services will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ValueBank Texas will close its lobby as well as its drive-through services for the day Monday.

The South Jetty office will be closed Monday, May 31, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Deadlines for advertising, news and letters to the editor will be noon on Tuesday, June 1.

However, all news and advertising that can be turned in before 5 p.m. Friday, May 28, would be appreciated.
