STAFF PHOTO BY KAREN COLLINS It was the first time at a regional track meet for everybody except Emily Scott, and though the venue can be intimidating, Port Aransas competitors worked hard and competed well.

Though none advanced to the state level, several placed at the regional meet in Huntsville on Monday and Tuesday, May 3-4. Only the top two in each event go on to state.

“Competition was tough, which is to be expected at the regional meet, but our kids competed hard,” said coach Steve Reaves. “A lot of hard work goes into getting to the regional meet, and I am proud of them for showing up every day and putting in the work it took to get better.”

Reaves said except for Scott, who graduates this year, all the regional competitors will be back next year.

“Hopefully, we saw a few things to motivate us and keep us working over the summer,” he said. How they did:

3200m Megan Forrest, 14:30
