Lifeguard classes to be offered at Port Aransas pool

Heroes need to be prepared.

Register now for training as a lifeguard or water safety instructor.

American Red Cross certified trainings will be held 4:30 to 10 p.m.,Tuesday through Thursday, May 18 – 20, and Wednesday and Thursday, May 26 and 27, at the Community Park Pool, 700 Clark Parkway, off Ross Avenue.

The cost is $175 per person.

“Here is a chance to build your resume and show the world what you can do,” said community programs coordinator Pam Greene.

“Prepare for college and a career by developing leadership and communication skills; be a hero by learning lifesaving skills, including first aid and CPR; or have fun, while earning money, at a job you love,” she said.

The age requirement for the lifeguard course is 15 and up. The course length is approximately 30-37 hours.

For the water safety instructor, the age requirement is 16 and up. The course length is approximately 30 hours.
