Marlins advance to area

14-4 win sends them deeper into play-offs

The Marlins will be playing baseball for at least another week after a 14-4 win in the third game over Kingsville Academy this afternoon.

The bi-district win sends the Marlins to the area round of competition next weekend against powerhouse D'Hanis at a location to be announced.

The Marlins started the three-game series against Academy last night in Sinton with a 7-11 loss. This morning, they came back with a 9-3 win behind the pitching of Tyler Pate.

After a 30-minute break, they returned to the Tuloso-Midway diamond to finish it off with a big win. The Marlins dominated, with the score at 9-0 in the bottom of the second inning, according to South Jetty staff photographer Karen Collins.

The May 13 edition of the South Jetty will have more details and information about the next round of the play-offs.
