The Nueces County Appraisal District will conduct a homeowners’ property tax appraisal workshop on Saturday, May 8, in Port Aransas.

The workshop, which will be free and open to the public, will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Civic Center, 710 W. Avenue A.

The district is sponsoring the event in conjunction with the Nueces County Tax Office, the City of Port Aransas and the Port Aransas Independent School District.

Port Aransas Mayor Pro Tem Keith McMullin will lead discussions during the workshop.

“The program will consist of several informative presentations,” states a news release issued by the appraisal district. “The appraisal district will provide helpful general information about appraisal procedures, homestead exemptions, market values and protests.”

Nueces County Tax Assessor Ronnie Canales or a representative will speak on property tax assessment, payment and collection matters.

McMullin will provide information on Port Aransas property values.

The presentations will be followed by a short taxpayer question-and-answer session. Next will be “an opportunity for property owners to informally discuss their personal property tax accounts with the appropriate attending representative,” the news release said.
