FISHING REPORT

Fishing is good despite the wind

Despite windy conditions during part of the week, several boats ventured out and brought in varied catches.

Bay catches consisted of redfish, big black drum and sheepshead this week.

Offshore anglers caught blackfin tuna, some ling and amberjack, grouper, wahoo, plenty of vermilion and dog snapper, kingfish, shark and some amberjack.

Pier and jetty anglers caught sheepshead, black drum, redfish, trout and some shark.

Scott Garrison at Deep Sea Headquarters reported catches of kingfish, vermilion snapper, shark and grouper. Bay guides brought in redfish, black drum and speckled trout, he said.

Mary Ann Heimann at Offshore Adventures reported that offshore anglers brought in kingfish, vermilion snapper, lane snapper and Atlantic sharpnose shark. The High Bid caught wahoo, amberjack, grouper, barracuda, and ling, she said. Bay anglers caught limits of black drum and redfish.

Therisha Moreno at Woody’s Sports Center said bay guides brought in sheepshead, black drum, gafftop and redfish.

John Dunn at Dolphin Dock said anglers on the 60-hour offshore trip caught blackfin tuna, grouper, African pompano, and barracuda. Shorter trips over the weekend yielded kingfish, vermilion snapper, ling, amberjack, dog snapper and some Atlantic sharpnose shark.

John McNatt at Fisherman’s Wharf reported catches of kingfish and vermilion snapper offshore, while bay anglers reported catching black drum and redfish. Jetty anglers reported catches of sheepshead and large, oversized redfish.

Dale Einhardt at Horace Caldwell Pier said anglers there caught whiting, black drum and blacktip shark.
