Students to present play Monday
The Port Aransas High School University Interscholastic League one-act play team performed last Thursday for the 1A north-zone competition. Though they did not advance, three students earned individual awards. Jordan Butterfield earned honorable mention in acting, Mitchell Byrd won the first place technical award for lights and sound and Ashley Henderson made all-star cast.
The cast will give one public performance of their play on Monday, April 12, at the high school cafetorium, 100 S. Station St., at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages six through 12, and those age five and under are free.
The play, “Love is a Hot Fudge Sunday,” by Stephen Hotchner, is set in a present-day public high school. Cast members are Joseph Fries as Matthew Gill, April Sutter as Nicky, Reba Armanovs as Dana, Jordan Butterfield as Suzy, Melissa Estrada as Katie, Taylor Griffin as Stacy, Colton Marcantel as Doug, Max Ray as Bill, Christopher Cremeen as Seth, Hazel Morris as Bob and Ashley Hendricks as Rosy.
Lights and sound are by Mitchel Byrd, stage manager is Shelby Flores. Nazmi Sayed, Jessica Etheridge and Zori Latkovic are crew. Alternates are Shannon Stephenson, Hannah Ferguson Johns and Donna Glenn.
