Golfers score at Padre Isles

Despite some nasty weather, including rain and a “pretty hard” wind, Port Aransas High School golfers posted their best scores in years at Padre Isles Country Club on Wednesday, March 24. Coach Steve Reaves called it “a good practice round” for an upcoming (April 12) tournament, which will also be held at Padre Isles.

“Even with the conditions, we played really well,” Reaves said. “Both the boys and the girls teams shot their best team scores in the last several years.”

Kelsey Ortiz led the lady golfers with 87, followed by Katie Voyles (95), Emily Scott (110), Kelsey Abel (111) and Kalani Balcom (121).

For the boys, Andrew Follett posted an 86 with Alex Groseclose following with a 92 and Andrew Groseclose posting a 96. Kevin Sikes turned in a 98 and John Eggleston scored 105. COURTESY PHOTO
