Easter week services set

A community-wide interdenominational Easter Sunday sunrise service will be held Sunday, April 4.

The service will be a joint gathering of the Community Presbyterian Church, the First Baptist Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church and Trinity-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church. Services will begin at 6:45 a.m. under the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion at Roberts Point Park.

Father John Xaviour from Saint Joseph Catholic Church will deliver the sermon.

Offerings collected at the service will benefit local charities.

In addition to the annual sunrise service, several Port Aransas churches will hold special Holy Week services.

The Community Presbyterian Church, 113 S. Alister St., will hold a Maundy Thursday and Tenebrae service on Thursday, April 1, at 7 p.m., and Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m.

St. Joseph Catholic Church, 100 N. Station St., will hold a Holy Week mass on April 1, at 6 p.m. and Good Friday Mass on April 2, at 6 p.m. Easter Vigil will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 3. Mass will be held at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

Trinity-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 433 Trojan St., will have a Seder dinner at 6 p.m., on April 1, followed by Maundy Thursday service at 8 p.m. The Good Friday liturgy will be at noon and the Easter Day Eucharist will be at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The First Baptist Church, 200 N. Station St., will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m., and Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m.

The Island Worship Center, 1801 S. 11th St., will have Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m., with an Easter egg hunt during the childrens’ service, also at 10 a.m.
