PACT’s ‘Cheatin’ opens March 25
“Cheatin,’” a comedy by Del Shores, is slated to open at the Port Aransas Community Theatre next Thursday, March 25.
The play can be seen Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 25 through April 17, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees, at 2:30 p.m., are scheduled on March 28 and April 18.
Tickets may be purchased at the theater box office, 2327 State Hwy. 361, Monday through Friday, from noon to 5 p.m., or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Cushioned seats, on the risers, are $15 for all performances. Chrome and plastic chairs on the floor go for $10 each at Thursday and Sunday performances only. No coupons or discounts will be honored for those seats, which cost $15 at all other performances.
“Cheatin’,” a comedy recommended for adult audiences only, is set in the West Texas watering hole of Lowake. Gossip is the town’s major pastime, igniting a blaze of infidelity that engulfs three couples. The clan includes Bo Bob, the dimwitted mailman, and Clarence, local stud and mechanic who’s been messin’ with Ovella since high school. His faithful girl is Sara Lee Turnover, the beautician. Teddy Joe, Ovella’s wronged husband who is more brawn than brain, Maybelline, the tall waitress who wants to be in love, and a narrator/ storyteller/singer who doubles as a psychic and believes in happy endings complete the cast.
Members of the cast are Bob O’Rourke as Sid Cranford, Jack Dreessen as Bo Bo Jasper, Arnold Govella as Clarence Hopkins, Connie Beane as Sara Lee Turnover, Bonnie Isaac as Ovella Parsons Wilks, Rick Adams as Teddy Joe Wilks and Judith Greer as Maybelline Cartwright.
The lighting and tech crew is comprised of Ginny Shaw and Darryl Meadows. Tom Dasch and his employees will construct the set and Arlene Hughes, Barbara Behrens and Janine Laroussa are the set painters.
