Auction, dinner, prizes on tap at VFW

Make it your date night for Valentine’s Day.

The Moore-McDonald Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8967 will host its annual auction, smoked pork dinner and prize drawing this Saturday, Feb. 13.

Donations of items for the drawing will be accepted up until the dinner and may be dropped off at the post, 311 N. Alister St.

The auction will begin at noon with auctioneer retired Col. Roy Montgomery.

The smoked pork dinner with “all the fixin’s” will be served at 4 p.m. A donation of $8 per plate is requested.

Prize drawings will be held at 6 p.m. and the music will start at 6:30 p.m.

Five drawing prizes include a 32-inch RCA HDTV, an Acer mini laptop computer, a Sony digital camera, a Garmin GPS and a 145-piece mechanic’s tool set. Ticket holders need not be present to win. Tickets are available at the post for $2 each or six for $10.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the post’s scholarship fund for Port Aransas High School graduating seniors and the post’s building fund.

“Volunteers for the event are always welcome,” said auction chair Ann Jorgenson.
