The Lady Marlins continued their winning ways on Friday, Jan. 29, with the varsity downing the Woodsboro Lady Eagles 47-25.

Coach Stephanie Cowen credited the defense with the win, since the offense hasn’t been clicking for the last couple of games.

“We have not shot the ball as well as we had earlier in the season, so we are relying on changing up our defenses to help us get some easy scores,” Cowen said. “We didn’t do the job we needed to on the boards.”

Cowen noted that the ladies were giving their opponents second-chance shots, while taking only one shot themselves.

She credited Kalani Balcom with improved play: “She comes off the bench and always seems to provide us with a quick spark.”

Katelin Dupnik led the scoring with 13 and Tarryn Murray rounded out the double digit scoring with 11. Balcom put in 7, as did Rachael Phillips, while Emily Scott hit 5 and Reba Armanovs got 4 points.

The win brought the varsity to a 24-3 overall record and a 6-0 record in district play.
