Perry pushes 2/3 vote for tax hikes
      Gov. Rick Perry is trying to make it harder to pay for programs in Texas. Perry has proposed that Texas copy California, and amend its constitution to require any proposed tax increase get a two-thirds vote in the Texas House and Senate to become law.

      The House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence held its first public hearing of the year covering interim charges on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The topic was the use of arbitration in Texas and the effect such practices have on state jurisprudence.
