Lady Marlins trounce Taft team
The Port Aransas girls rolled to a commanding lead in the first quarter, and although they slowed the scoring as the game progressed, they never allowed their guests to come within striking distance.
Tarryn Murray, with 13, and Katelin Dupnik, with 12, were the Lady Marlins’ double-digit scorers. Emily Scott followed with 9, Abby Kenigsberg hit for 6 and Reba Armanovs, Chelsea Perez and Anna Roberson hit 4 each. Rachael Phillips, Kalani Balcom and Kelsey Ortiz put in 2 apiece to round out the Lady Marlin scoring.
The win brings the varsity girls to an 18-2 record.
The junior varsity Lady Marlins didn’t fare as well, coming out on the low end of the 27-33 score. The loss puts their record at 0-9 for the season.
The JV girls fell behind in the first half, going to the locker room with a 15-10 deficit. They outscored the Taft girls 14-8 in the third quarter, but scoring lagged again in the final period.
