JOE LORIN LAMB
Joe Lorin Lamb, age 47, passed away unexpectedly
on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at
Park Plaza Hospital while attending a business
conference in Houston. Joe was born May 16,
1962, to Robert and Mary Evelyn (Henson) Lamb
in Odessa, Texas. He was a 1980 graduate of
Odessa High School. He served in the U. S.
Army as an Airborne Pathfinder from 1981 to
1984. He was Chief Building Official for the City
of Port Aransas for the past seven years.
Joe also served as the Region 9 Director for the Texas Flood Plain Management Association, and had been an active member since 2002. He was also appointed to the Governor’s State Task Force for Homeland Security/FEMA. Joe wore many hats while working for the City of Port Aransas. He was the City Fire Marshall, Plans Examiner, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural Inspector, Flood Plain Administrator, Director of Code Enforcement and as he like to say “The Custodian after 3:00.”
Joe was also involved in the Port Aransas Soccer Association, and also held various positions within the Odessa Soccer Association and the Gregory-Portland Soccer Association. He touched many children’s lives and volunteered numerous hours mentoring children of all ages. Of all of his accomplishments he was most proud of the legacy he would leave with the children he touched. He believed if you can touch a child’s life you will live forever.
He married his soul mate, Michelle Locklar on July 25, 1997, but told everyone they were married from the day they met on February 10, 1994. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle of Corpus Christi, his daughters, Rachel Lamb of Las Cruces, NM, and Shayna Davis of Corpus Christi, his parents, Robert & Mary Evelyn Lamb of Odessa, and his brother, Robert Lamb & wife Shaye of Odessa, his constant companions, his Shih Tzu’s Otter & Oreo, who will miss their nightly belly rubs. He is also survived by four nieces and nephews who he adored along with ten great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and co workers who will miss him greatly.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the First Christian Church with Mark E. Ritter officiating.
