Constable charges two in drug bust
Drug bust COURTESY PHOTO Deputy constables from Nueces County Precinct 4 seized these drugs and this cash from a vehicle Chief Constable Monty Allen stopped on the beach on Saturday, Nov. 28. The occupants of the vehicle face drug possession charges as well as false identification charges. The packet near the top right of the photo is cocaine, Allen said.
A Port Aransas man and an Austin woman are charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of false identification after being found with drivers licenses belonging to Austin area residents on Saturday, Nov. 28.
Chief Deputy Monty Allen of Precinct 4 Constable Bobby Sherwood’s office said he stopped the pair on the beach near marker 18 because their vehicle had no front license plate.
Because the driver had no liability insurance, the vehicle was also impounded, and when deputies searched the vehicle they found cocaine and several drivers licenses from the Austin area.
CARLOS KAZEN
Further investigation showed the licenses had been taken in a string of vehicle burglaries near Austin, Allen said.
The driver is identified as Carlos Kazen, 35, of Port Aransas; his companion was Misty Cretsinger, 33, of Austin.
Allen said the vehicle, a GMC Yukon SUV, will be seized, as will $3,389 in cash found in the vehicle.
Deputies are working with Austin police to learn if the identifications were used to cash stolen checks or to pawn items in the Austin area, Allen said.
