Get out of the house, walk off those extra calories and learn something new about the beach.

The monthly free, guided beach walk, led by Shirley Fischer, will start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, under the purple flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier.

Sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, the walk gives visitors and residents the opportunity to learn about all that washes ashore on Mustang Island beaches. The walks are held on the fourth Friday of each month.

Beach walkers should wear sunscreen, appropriate shoes, hats and clothing and bring a container for any treasures found.
