Rudolph is coming!
It must be almost Christmas because Rudolph is coming to Port Aransas.
The Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Texas Commission on the Arts to bring the Express Children’s Theatre presentation of “Rudolph,” a Christmas musical.
A single performance will be on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., at the Port Aransas Community Theatre, 2327 State Hwy. 361.
Tickets will go on sale at the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce, 403 W. Cotter, today, Thursday, Nov. 19.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children.
Express Children’s Theatre performed a musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland at PACT in October.
According to its Web site, Express Children’s Theater is “Houston’s oldest and largest performing and arts education organization dedicated specifically to children and families.”
This is its 19th season “of creating and presenting professional, culturally diverse performing arts designed to entertain and educate,” according to the Web site.
Express Children’s Theatre was founded in 1991 by Y.A. Bagersh, a young Ethiopian actor and director. Its first production reached about 3,700 children. In the next season, five plays increased bookings by more than 400 percent, reaching more than 13,500 children. Last season, Express presented 268 performances seen by about 70,000 children.
Complimentary refreshments will be served immediately following the performance.
