The Port Aransas JV Tournament was played over the weekend of Saturday, Nov. 14-Sunday, Nov. 15.

The Lady Marlins’ first round game with Woodsboro was cancelled due a scheduling conflict with Woodsboro’s football playoffs.

In the second round, they faced Aransas Pass, losing 13-51. Jessica Borden was the leading scorer with 7 points. Samantha Richardson and Meagan Hardegree had 2 points each, and Maddison Shannon and Megan Forrest each contributed a point.

In the third round, which was the third-place game, the Lady Marlins faced Ingleside and lost 10-50. In that game, Jenna Socha was the high Lady Marlins scorer with 4 points. Missy Gilbreath, Jessica Borden and Megan Forrest hit two points each.

“It was a tough day for our kids,” said Coach Stephanie Cohen. “We had two starters go down with injuries, and ended up playing Ingleside with seven players. The girls competed hard and with each possession we are focusing on improvement.

“Our girls played hard and competed the entire weekend,” she added. “We are just not as aggressive as we need to be yet. We will continue to work on fundamentals and being assertive on the offensive end of the floor.”
