Captain Charles Franklin Hodges Sr., 74, of Port Aransas, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.

Hodges was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Corpus Christi, to Frank Hodges to Frank Hodges and Irene Bond. He had a sister, Martha Martin, and a brother, Jimmy Martin.

As a child, he moved with his family to Port Aransas, where he later met and married Melva McDaniel. They were married 55 years and had three children.

Hodges worked on tugboats for 42 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

He is survived by his wife and brother; two daughters, Elizabeth Hodges (Paul) Bixler and Patricia Hodges (Grady) Cartwright, both of Port Aransas; a son, Charles Franklin (Mila) Hodges, Jr. of Houston; 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, aboard a boat departing Fisherman’s Wharf at 1 p.m.
