Street work continues in Island Moorings
Street work is continuing in the Island Moorings neighborhood, with weather dictating decisions on exactly which streets are under construction almost on a day-to-day basis.
When it’s windy, work is being moved out to less-populated Piper Boulevard, to keep cement dust from bothering residents, said Jim Parish, project manager with Haas-Anderson, the firm doing the work.
Other streets under construction at Island Moorings are Marina Drive, Island Moorings Parkway, Mustang Boulevard and Blue Heron Drive. All of the streets will remain under construction for the next month or so, Parish said. Final paving will be done on all of them around the same time, at the end of the month-long period, he said.
Workers are knocking on doors and posting door hangers to give residents a day or two advance warning of when work will be done on their streets, Parish said.
“We are doing the best we can to notify everybody in advance, so there is the least amount of inconvenience and confusion possible,” Parish said.
The Island Moorings work, plus road construction in other parts of Port Aransas, is being financed by a $4.9 million bond package approved by voters in November 2008.
