A rosary and funeral service were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Sunday, Oct. 25, for Sarah Jane Maxham of Port Aransas.

Maxham, 41, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, in a Corpus Christi hospital.

Interment will be at Hope Cemetery in Barre, Vt. at a later date.

Maxham was born June 5, 1968, in Barre to George and Mary Ellen Savigni.

Maxham worked as church secretary at Trinity-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Port Aransas. She had a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and a Master’s degree in education, and spent much her time volunteering in various Port Aransas organizations.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and its Altar Society, a Helping Hands volunteer at H.G. Olsen Elementary School, PTO board member, former GED tutor at the community Presbyterian Church adult education program, coach and board member of the Port Aransas Youth Soccer League, member of the Port Aransas Coastal Bend Womens’ Soccer League team, Marlin Athletic Booster Club member and a member of the Island Readers Book Club.

Maxham is survived by her husband, Robert Maxham; two sons, Nicholas Maxham and Jace Maxham; one daughter, Emily Maxham, all of Port Aransas; and her parents, George and Mary Ellen Savigni of Williamstown, Vt.
