Port Aransas reunion is set
The second annual reunion of Port Aransas residents from the 1970s and 1980s will be held Saturday, Oct. 17.
The event will start at “11ish” on the beach near Horace Caldwell Pier, then move to Shorty’s, 823 Tarpon St.
The beach party is a “BYO everything,” according organizer Susan Gleinser Blackledge.
“Look for the beach bums gathered yacking,” she said, adding that folks should bring chairs, beverages, snacks, games, surfboards, hacky sacks, photos and memorabilia for family fun.
The party will move to Shorty’s Pig Party about 3 or 4 p.m. where everyone who wants to participate in the feast should bring a side dish.
“Remember Alister Street Warehouse and dancing at the Sail Club till closing time, the Barroom Bicycle Race, Pocket Rockets, Spaghetti Works super slide, Lawnmower Ted, Kody’s on the beach and the Beach Olympics? If so, then come reminisce again with the locals of that era. And if you’re reading this, pass it on to someone else who remembers all that, too” Blackledge said.
