PAISD enrollment down from last year

A large freshman class swelled enrollment at Port Aransas High School, but district-wide, enrollment is down by three.

PAHS Principal Travis Longanecker is overseeing an additional 16 students this fall compared to last spring when enrollment stood at 168. Enrollment as of Sept. 8 was at 184, with 50 of those students in the freshman class.

H.G. Olsen Elementary is down by six students, with total enrollment at 240 as of Sept. 8.

Losing that large freshman class impacted enrollment at Brundrett Middle School where enrollment was down by 13 as of Sept. 8. This year’s sixth grade class is also larger than last year’s by seven students. Total enrollment at the middle school stood at 123 on Sept. 8.

Total enrollment for the district is 547 compared to 550 when classes were dismissed in May.
