Griffith
Harry S. Griffith Jr., 76, died at his home in Miles City, Mont. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009. He was a Port Aransas Winter Texan for 10 years.
Griffith was born in Miles City on May 7, 1933, to Harry and Selma Larson Griffith.
In 1954 he married Myra Dee Butts.
In 1956 he took over the dental lab at which he was employed and bought a home.
Griffith was an avid reader, fisherman and hunter, enjoyed traveling and was a Mason for 50 years.
In 1999 he was awarded the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Associaton’s Hero Award for his support of sports and sportsmanship.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Griffith; and a sister, Ellen Michaelson.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Harry “Butch” (Shelly Johnson) Griffith of Shelton, Wash.; a daughter, Ruth (Scott) Moreland of Carson City, Nev.; a sister, Hazel (Dean) Martenson of Billings, Mont., and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Denton Field in Miles City.
