FISHING REPORT

Everything caught but tuna
Fishing has been varied this week.

Docks reported a little of just about

everything but tuna being caught, and

bay anglers kept the status quo with good

catches of redfish, drum and trout.

The Texas Women Anglers Tournament

anglers released a total of 16 billfish

and some large tuna, dorado and wahoo

were weighed in. (See story page 11A.)

Ryan Reagan at Dolphin Dock said

their boats were bringing in kingfish,

amberjack, vermilion and dog snapper,

dorado, ling, grouper, Atlantic

sharpnose shark, blacktip shark and

sandbar shark.

Dan Hurd at Deep Sea Headquarters

said offshore anglers caught vermilion

snapper, dog snapper, Atlantic sharpnose

shark, kingfish, barracuda, amberjack,

grouper, dorado, wahoo, ling and blacktip

shark. Bay anglers brought in black drum,

redfish, flounder, gafftop and trout.

Tom Creighton at Woody’s Sports

Center reported offshore catches of

kingfish and shark. Bay anglers caught

redfish and black drum. A party boat

fishing at the end of the jetties brought

in shark and whiting, while surf anglers

have been reporting catches of speckled

trout.

Adventures said offshore trips brought

in plenty of kingfish, shark, dorado and

ling. Bay fishing “has been killer in the

morning,” she said. One morning she

caught 15 red snapper and three redfish

off the dock in less than an hour.

Angel Tomecek at Barnacle Bill’s

Pier House at Horace Caldwell Pier

reported catches of speckled trout under

the lights at night, black drum caught

regularly and a few redfish.

John McNatt at Fisherman’s Wharf

reported offshore catches of kingfish,

dorado, ling, vermilion snapper and a 124-pound hammerhead shark.
