Jesse Carroll Moody Jr., 75, died Aug. 18, 2009. He was a longtime resident of Port Aransas.

Moody was born in Abilene to Jesse Carroll Moody Sr. and Louise Fryar Moody. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Fryar, past owners of the Hackleford County Leader newspaper.

He earned a Ph.D from the University of Oklahoma and was executive vicepresident and provost of Northern Illinois University.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Moody; a sister, Shirley Covey; five children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial was held in his home on Aug. 24.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.
