Ever wish you had a beach guide with you when you’re beachcombing? You can.

Join Shirley Fischer at the monthly free, guided beach walk at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, under the purple flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier.

Sponsored by the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department, the walk gives visitors and residents the opportunity to learn about all that washes ashore on Mustang Island beaches. The walks are held on the fourth Friday of each month.

Beach walkers should wear sunscreen, appropriate shoes, hats and clothing and bring a container for any treasures found.
