FISHING REPORT
Plenty of red snapper, shark, amberjack and grouper caught
      We had a dose of the angler’s curse his week: Windy over the weekend, beautiful during the week. It wasn’t rough enough to keep the larger boats in, and bays were tolerable, so plenty of fish were still caught.

Lucky dress
      Sue McCarthy of Whitchurch, U.K., deemed this her lucky fishing dress after catching this oversized redfish (which was eventually tagged) on Sunday, July 26. It was her first fishing trip in Port Aransas. She fished with Kenneth Marsh of Port Aransas.

Two boatloads
      Bill Pennell and friends from Georgetown caught these amberjack, ling, dorado, Atlantic sharpnose shark, kingfish, and a limit of red snapper sows fishing aboard the Pelican and Kingfisher. They fished with Capts. Marvin Horner and Clint Clark on a 12-hour private fishing charter out of Deep Sea Headquarters on Friday, July 31.

A tournament all their own
      These folks from Austin fished on Saturday, July 18, with Bill Busters II Capt. Reese Greene at the helm, and the Bill Busters I with Capt. John Stark. The Dorsett-Swift tournament brought in red snapper, shark, kingfish and ling.

Texas Legends billfish tourney begins Friday
      The Texas Legends Billfish Tournament registration is set for today, Thursday, Aug. 6. The entry fee is $1,000 per boat, plus $1,000 to the mandatory boat pool. The final entry deadline is Thursday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. at the captain’s party at the Pelican Club, 914 Tarpon St.

      The Quintanilla brothers caught their limit of red snapper and plenty of shark on Saturday, Aug. 1. They fished with Capt. Russell Sanquinet on a 12-hour night trip aboard the Scat Cat out of Fisherman’s Wharf.

      These folks from Arlington brought in this catch of kingfish and red snapper from a five-hour trip with Capt. Russell Sanguinet aboard the Wharf Cat out of Fisherman’s Wharf on Friday, July 17.

      Kevin Goulding and his son Dane, 6, both of Baytown, were visiting Port Aransas recently and decided to go wadefishing. It was Dane’s first time to wadefish.
