The Port Aransas Swim Team hosted a meet against the Rockport Sharks on Saturday, June 20. PAST won the meet with a combined team score of 213, to Rockport’s 151. Port Aransas results follow. Kevin Sikes, who will be a senior at Port Aransas High School, was named to the first team All-State team for third base by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association. Sikes became the first baseball player from Port Aransas High School to earn All-State honors. More ... When he was named All-Region MVP last year, Kevin Sikes thought he might have a shot at All-State. Didn’t happen. This year, the Port Aransas High School Marlin baseball team was stopped in the first round of the playoffs, and Sikes didn’t give All-State a thought. Last week, the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association named him to the first team, All-State Team for third base. All-State team members are selected by high school baseball coaches from across the state, according to PAHS baseball Coach Brian Flack. More ... The First Baptist Church of Port Aransas will sponsor a dodgeball tournament for teams of five on Saturday, June 27, to raise funds for youth summer camp scholarships. Three age divisions are available: One for ages 10 and 11, one for ages 12 through 20, one for 21 and older. Co-ed teams are allowed. More ... Jacquelynne Hernandez of Port Aransas is raising funds to help her softball team go to a regional, then (hopefully) the national tournament. The Corpus Christi Diamond Rage, an 8 and under fastpitch softball team, recently qualified to participate in the regional Protect Our Nation’s Youth tournament in Kingsville on July 11 and 12. If they win in Kingsville, they will go on to the national tournament in Harlingen in late July and August. More ... |
