FISHING REPORT
The big, fat red snapper are still out there and they’re hanging out with some juicy friends.
Limits of red snapper are still being caught on all of the party boats, along with plenty of kingfish, vermilion snapper, amberjack, grouper, shark and a few other species here and there.
Bay anglers reported good catches, mostly of redfish and black drum, with some trout sprinkled in.
MaryAnn Heimann at Offshore Adventures said offshore trips brought in limits of red snapper, kingfish, triggerfish, Atlantic sharpnose shark and “big blacktip shark up to about 65 pounds.” Bay anglers limited out on redfish and caught some speckled trout and black drum.
Angel Tomecek at Barnacle Bill’s Pier House said Horace Caldwell Pier anglers have been catching speckled trout, whiting, shark and the occasional Spanish mackerel.
John McNatt at Fisherman’s
Wharf
reported limits of red snapper, kingfish, amberjack and mangrove and vermilion snapper. North jetty anglers are catching mostly redfish.
John Dunn at Dolphin Dock reported limits of big red snapper caught offshore, as well as kingfish, shark and barracuda.
Brenda Owens at Deep Sea Headquarters said offshore trips brought in limits of red snapper, ling, Atlantic sharpnose shark, kingfish, barracuda, amberjack, grouper, vermilion snapper, wahoo, dorado and bonito. Bay guides brought in redfish, trout, black drum and gafftop.
Tom Creighton at Woody’s Sports Center said offshore anglers caught plenty of red snapper, kingfish, ling and shark. Bay anglers caught redfish, black drum and some trout. A party boat caught redfish and shark, including a 100-pound bull shark in the channel.
