Tournaments to raise money for scholarships Round up a few friends and play ball this weekend, and the next, for a good cause. The First Baptist Church of Port Aransas will sponsor two tournaments this summer to raise funds for youth summer camp scholarships. The first, on Saturday, June 20, is a “3 on 3” basketball tournament. The second, on Saturday, June 27, is a dodgeball tournament for teams of five. You read it right, that’s dodgeball, even for the (alleged) grown-ups. Both events will have three divisions: One for ages 10 and 11, one for ages 12 through 20, one for 21 and older. Co-ed teams are allowed. The “3 on 3” basketball tournament is for teams of three, at a cost of $5 per player. Pay at the tournament, in the Doyle Marek gym at Port Aransas High School at 11 a.m. on June 20. The dodgeball tournament is for teams of five, also at a cost of $5 per player. Age divisions are the same as those for the ‘3 on 3’ tourney. Register at danny@fbporta.com by Saturday, June 20. Pay at the tournament, at the PAHS gym on June 27. The tourney begins at 11 a.m. Concessions will be at both events. Call Music and Family Pastor Danny Burch at 749-6479 for information. |
